Fruitful Options
…We cleaned our plates—no small feat since these were not small portions—and I eventually convinced Danny that he couldn’t really leave without having a dessert crepe, especially with the many options for fillings, from fruit to Nutella to nuts to whipped cream to Oreos to brownies to ice cream to granola and Graham crackers. We, again, customized our own dessert crepe stuffed with fresh bananas and strawberries, and cornflakes, and topped it with drizzles of dark and white chocolate…. [Full post]

Frequent Fryer, Pt. 2
…At only $12, they are, like their clam counterpart, a great appetizer to split between two people before chowing down on lobster or shrimp rolls, or for one person to completely fill up of some plump, tender shrimp, fried in a simply seasoned crackermeal, and served with a bright, piquant cocktail sauce, deep with earthy hot horseradish…. L’Afrique? C’est Chic!
…A plentiful and aromatic dish, this was another tasty winner. You could really taste the melange of flavor influences, a hint of mustard in the marinade, some sweeter spices—nutmeg maybe—mixing with spicier ones, and the barely-on-the-bone lamb, with its deeper but not gamier flavor, possessing the quality of imparting its leaner meat’s flavor, as well as its fatty flavors (most meats really heavily on its fat content alone for flavor)…. Sweet Wave
…Heavenly, both of them! (They even have a flavor called Heaven which I can’t wait to try: vanilla with marshmallow and white chocolate…yes!) Both possessing a good creamy custard-based consistency, keeping the non-icy coolness and flavors on the tongue long after each silky smooth swallow. The Bleeding Heart especially pleasant, with the added surprise of thin-but-crispy shelled chocolates giving way to the berry sweet raspberry liquor…. [Full post]

This House Is A Home
…The medium rare duck was succulent, tasty, with the proper amount of “game” without any of the “funk”.(That’s how I like to put it.) The sweet but not cloying cassis vinaigrette complimenting the meat without overwhelming it, and hefted nicely by the flavorful and aromatic sweet potato hash. The subtle, herbal notes in the cooked spinach rounding out the dish quite nicely…. [Full post]

Grom Is Da’ Bomb!
…Creamy it was, perfect cold temperature, and rich and layered with a host of complimentary flavors. A nice, clean yet robust vanilla flavor evened the smoothness of the “egg cream”-based gelato. Shards of pure chocolate were small enough to melt on the tongue on contact, while the cornmeal helped keep the biscuits crispy and crunchy until the very last spoonful…. [Full post]

National Doughnut Day
…There is a slight miracle that occurs within this cream-glazed ring. Somehow, the
cake part of the doughnut melted in my mouth so smoothly I kept looking for an inner ring of light cream, but found none. I don’t ever go on record on saying something is “the best”, but I can honestly say I will never forget how incredible this puppy was. I was so impressed that I shared over half of it with other people who were still on line to back me up impression…[Full post]

Catching Up
…The fennel and bottarga pie was rich with layers of flavor, from the citrus-hued piquancy of the fennel to the earthiness of the bottarga, which boasts the same flavor property—almost—as anchovies, with more subdued salinity and brininess…. [Full post]
