Small Miracle At Big Nick’s

Big Nick's Burger Joint Bacon Cheeseburger

Jacob’s Latter

…The delicious buttermilk fried chicken’s taste and juiciness easily reminded me of many happy South Carolina family dinners, while the sausage gravy, while surprisingly light on the flour, was abundant with a variety of spices, the whole combination in each forkful being a delight to every section of my palate…. …The Cabot cheddar, some of the best in its class, added subtle sharpness to the sandwich, and double the texture with it’s melted center and its slightly fried “skirt”…. [Full Post]

Four Stars For 5 Guys

…Not minding or caring at all that bits on sautéed onions were spilling out the sides or that I had aromatic mixtures or saucy condiments and burger juices running down my fingers and even past my wrists, I eagerly looked forward to each successive bite. Crisp lettuce, crispier smokey bacon, firm juicy tomato, mellow mayo, kicky and vinegary mustard, I found myself conflicted between wanting to rush into the next bite yet wanting to savor the present one…. 5 Guys Burgers & Fries

Danny’s Burger Evolution

…Danny became a fan of the burger after two quick bites—and absolutely loved the crinkle-cut fries, which I agree don’t get the recognition they deserve—and is now more eager to be able to enjoy more of them from the Shake Shack on East 86th, just two and a half blocks from his apartment…. The meat was tasty and ran nicely clear with juices, without the toast’s crispiness being impaired. The smoky bacon complimented the pinkish beef’s natural, sweet, earthiness…. [Full post]

Jurassic Pork

…Yes, the ribs were tender and juicy and came off the bone effortlessly. The properly smoke-ringed brisket melted in my mouth. The pulled pork was especially good, since it had shreds of lean, and fatty pork, as well as some crispy bits of skin, which I usually find sorely missing from most pulled pork around the city…. Seaside On The West Side

…Their Lobster Roll Sliders offerings were not so much of the ilk of the suddenly ubiquitous lobster roll as it was a lobster salad sandwich, but a very good one at that. Chopped, fresh light, pieces of lobster tossed in a small dollop of mayo with some subtle seasoning and chopped celery surprisingly let the breezy flavor properties of the lobster nicely present and hit all the right notes, while being quietly supported by “double-buttered” brioche mini buns…. Lunch With The Greeks

…Another successful dish, plump soft dumpling, stuffed with a soft, mellow but “rustic” cheese, buoyed by the rich, just slightly citrusy tomato sauce, grounded by some homey greens, and heightened by the kick in the very tender spicy sausage, which, again, Leo handled with aplomb… [Full post]
