And let me take this opportunity to clear up some (possibly intentional) misconceptions about the “chain” of H&H Bagels in New York City. The H&H that I refer to above is not only not affiliated with the H&H Bagels on Broadway and 80th Street (my go-to bagel place for my formidable childhood since the prep school I attended for 10 years was only 4 blocks away), but still retained some bitterness over the use of the H&H name which began as a lawsuit back in 1998.

So when you here people unilaterally attest to the superiority of H&H bagels over all others, they may be unwittingly be defending a shop, and not a brand or chain….
