A bellwether of the possibly very good times the neighborhood can look forward to enjoying if places like this keep opening up. Taking over a former, hip pizzeria that sold slices by weight (and offered exotic if not I’d-eat-that-every-day toping combinations such as apple and walnuts or goat cheese and potato chips), this place should only fear word of mouth that is too; that inevitably invites naysayers and backlashers.

But the food here is, I believe, strong enough to keep the customers coming back fast and often. No restaurant is for everyone, but Cascabel is for me and neighbors like me who are tired of watching all the other NYC neighborhoods get the good, popular, and unique restaurants….!
