Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual | Michael Pollan | Paperback
TWO OF MY NEW YEAR’S resolutions were to eat healthier at to read more actual, physical books. Then along comes this Michael Pollan on the Daily Show with John Stewart telling everybody he’s written a book on how easy it can be to eat healthier!
It’s called Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual, and it’s not some droning tome of a book, but a cleverly disguised, well, manual on how making some relatively trivial and mundane changes to our shopping and eating habits can fill our bodies chock full of the good, natural food that keeps us away from the doctor, and how to avoid those machine-made foodstuff that gives our kids diabetes and has us on expensive supplementals in our early 30s!
I picked up a copy on my way back from a recent PHUDE jaunt to Union Square…!

Here’s an excerpt:
Don’t eat breakfast cereals that change the color of the milk.
This should go without saying. Such cereals are highly processed and full of refined carbohydrates as well as chemical additives.
You see, simple stuff like that. And, for me at least, it might not happen that I follow all of the book’s advice, but I am definitely a leg up in just knowing what I would have to do eat healthier, get healthier, live longer, etc….!
