Burger One; Other Diners, Zero
…As Gina and I enjoyed our respective repasts at the counter—amount to less than 20 bucks including her soda and my chocolate egg cream—new customers started streaming in at a steady clip, seemingly regulars who each seemed to have a favorite—or several—from its large menu that offers hot and cold sandwiches, wraps, and entrées such as a Gyro Platter, Onion Steak, and Fried Chicken…. Bi-Linguinal
…Success at last! This time the flavors and texture were perfect, with the al dente pasta soaking up the layered flavors of the savory, herbal olive oil, creamy butter, sharp, salty anchovy, and sweet scallions. Once sliced into, the warm, “oozy” egg yolk, made a perfect sauce to pull all of the elements of the dish together…. [cont.]

Egg-a Omega
…I sautéed i few smelt fillets in some rendered bacon fat in a cast iron skillet, meanwhile frying to egg yolks sunny-side-up. I then placed the eggs on top of the chili pepper paste, then placed the smelt decoratively on top of them, trying to not visually obstruct the eggs…. [cont.]

End of a Sick Week
…Today was the first day I got to do any real PHUDE-ing, making myself some small meals for breakfast and lunch and ordering delivrry for dinner. Since I’m still medicated, I won’t go into too much detail. Here’s what I had to eat today:… [cont.]

Keep On Truckin’
…I grabbed a maple-bacon wafel for myself, and another with a side of their famous spekuloos for my fellow staff members who were already at the restaurant for brunch service, while making suggestions to some of the trucks first-time customers recommendations on what combinations of wafels and dinges (toppings) they should try…. Leftovers for Breakfast
I whisked some eggs with chopped scallions and pimento, poured them into a buttered pan, stuffed the omelet with leftover tuna salad from last night’s dinner, and served it with the one last potato I had, which I cut into big dices and sautéed in a skillet with butter, garlic, celery salt and fresh cracked pepper… [cont.]
…But It All Worked Out!
…With the texture that was a mix of mashed potatoes and hash brown, with markedly more flavor as well, the plaintain’s perfect natural sweet-savory balance made a great “base” for the other flavors of the dish, especially with the seasoned and pleasantly salted, Dominican-style salami and mellow fried queso fresco, a cousin of the more crumbly queso blanco…. Quick Post | Morning Glory
…So I stirred some ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon into some pancake batter, then strained the raspberries, and lightly puréed them with some honey and lemon juice, to use a drizzle…. [cont.]

Quick Post | First Meal of the New Year…
…Lucky enough, I made enough to enjoy for the whole day, since I don’t see myself leaving my apartment—or my bed—for the next 24 hours… [cont.]

Chocolate Is The New Breakfast
…As the child in you can probably imagine, this was crazy yummers! Nice airy pancakes with just a little crisp to the edges were heightened by little bursts of chocolate rice cereal with plenty of rich cocoa flavor and still retaining a lot of their crunch. The syrup, sweet with sugar, tempered by butter, gave some sweet moistness to the bits of pancakes and the peanuts…. [cont.]

Breakfast “Sammy” Whammy
…I clean up the apartment because the reason I won’t be on the computer is that I’ll be bartending Saturday and Sunday brunch until 7 p.m.—and I don’t finish those shifts even remotely sober—so I can preemptively effect some kind of decorum in my apartment before I trash it with Jagermeister-stained apparel or decide to entertain company of the complimentary gender (aren’t I ever the optimist!)…. Top o’ the Fridge to Ya…!
…Quick prep work, quick cooking time, and tasty enough to go down quickly, it made for a likewise very quick post, from which I get to now go work on 5 different clients’ websites, then attend my bar/restaurant’s annual holiday party…. [cont.]

Eggs Alaric
…I fried two egg yolks (with some residual egg white still on them) sunny side up in another skillet. I placed the warmed egg yolks on top of the smoked salmon, spooned some of the truffled hollandaise on top of the egg yolks, and garnished each with a small sprig of fresh dill and the end-of-a-spoon-tipful of black lumpfish caviar…. T.G.F.B!
…I greased the inside of a miniature glass bowl with some butter, and cracked an egg into it. I brought several cups of water to bowl in a high-edged pan and placed the mini-bowl in it. I chopped up some thick-sliced deli ham, tossed it with some cider vinegar, ground cloves, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and brown sugar, then put them in a skillet and put them in the oven which is on broil. I stir sliced mushrooms and grated parmesan cheese into some grits started with water and chicken stock…. [cont.]
