Spicy Fried Chicken Thighs with Baked Macaroni & Cheese

Colombia On Lex

…Everything in the shop was made from scratch, including the dough for their arepas, as well as the masa more typically (if less commonly here in the states) used as the “shell” for their empanadas, stuffed with aromatically seasoned stew beef/chicken, deep-fried to order, and served to me in mere minutes piping hot…. With A Little Help From My Friends

…I sautéed shiitake and oyster mushrooms with diced pancetta, and scallions, added some heavy cream, a bit of dijon mustard, some salt, fresh cracked pepper, celery salt, and a dash of nutmeg, then stirred in a half cup each of swiss, fontina, and parmesan cheese until I had a nice, aromatic creamy, gooey sauce…. Katie and I did enjoy this pizza very much, neither one of us understanding, however, why someone would want to add jalapeños to it…. [Full post]

Jurassic Pork

…Yes, the ribs were tender and juicy and came off the bone effortlessly. The properly smoke-ringed brisket melted in my mouth. The pulled pork was especially good, since it had shreds of lean, and fatty pork, as well as some crispy bits of skin, which I usually find sorely missing from most pulled pork around the city…. Frequent Fryer, Pt. 2

…At only $12, they are, like their clam counterpart, a great appetizer to split between two people before chowing down on lobster or shrimp rolls, or for one person to completely fill up of some plump, tender shrimp, fried in a simply seasoned crackermeal, and served with a bright, piquant cocktail sauce, deep with earthy hot horseradish….
