Look Out, Ol’ Macky’s Back!

…but the pleasure of the McRib is having it take me back to a time when I didn’t know of or care about truffles, or omega-8s, or “locally-sourced”; the boneless pork sammy is delicious enough to pay no mind to this mess you’re bound to make. It is the White Castle slider experience on steroids, without having to be drunk or stoned to truly enjoy…. [Full Post]

Hooked On S’Mac

…They were all very serviceable—some even quite enjoyable—and I was self-impressed that my two favorites were the two I believed would be my favorites: The All-American and the Alpine…. [Ful Post]

Loafing Off

…I treated myself to a meatloaf layered into tastes, textures, aromas, and depth, flavorful meats of various fattiness absorbing the aromatics of the ingredients inside it, served with a sturdy yet light side of potatoes for the bold notes of the tomato, vinegar, basil, and capers to stand on… [Full Post »]

Stuffed Italian Meatloaf

Grab Some Zabb

…The crispy pork—think slices of pork belly—are coated in a sticky sweet glaze that not only compliments, but accentuates the pork’s fattiness and salinity, and the chili in the sauce as well as in the flakes, again, affect a slow burn throughout the head then body, like a hug from within…. Ippudo, Finally

…First of all, the noodles are made expertly in-house, and are thinner than their college dorm counterparts, so they naturally absorb much more of the lusciously rich broth’s flavor while maintaining a pliable firmness that gives them proper slurp as well as chew…. [Full Post]

Cheer & “B”s

…the kimchi serving as a feisty slaw, kicking up the cheddar’s sharpness, while the fried pork belly added a great crunch with its crispy edges, and grounding the sandwich with its flavorful fat and added saltiness. The egg’s warm runny yolk adding some welcome silkiness and richness…. [Full Post]

Grilled Cheese, Earl's Beer & Cheese

Cariño Cubano

…The roast pork was tender, juicy, and for once made up, by far, the majority of the meat in the sandwich. The slice of ham is not a random redundancy of pig here, adding a welcome layer instead of some added fat, “cured” flavors, and salinity. The pickles were properly bright, without being to sweet, sour or “punchy”. The “punch” rightfully came from the mustard, that with the melted cheese and panini-pressed flattened bread, kept your tastebuds awake enough to enjoy the combinations of flavors, temperature and texture for several extra seconds…. Coppelia, Cuban Sandwich

Mofon-Good

….I was impressed with the flavor of the monfongo, richly layered, sweet and garlicky savory, and every forkful extremely filling. The chicharrones were tasty as well, although I was hoping to get much the textural dichotomies usually associated with roast pork items: lean tender meat, a layer of flavor fat, and a “stickly” crispy skin. The skin had very little crispiness to it at all…. [Full Post]
